HUMAN RIGHTS POLICY

The KADOKAWA Group understands that respecting human rights is an important social duty that we should fulfill in all situations in our business activities. We have established the KADOKAWA Group Human Rights Policy (hereinafter the “Policy”) in line with the framework of international standards. Under the Policy, we will carry out initiatives for respecting human rights by engaging in dialogue with a wide variety of stakeholders, including all of our employees, local communities, our business partners and consumers.

Commitment

We support the International Bill of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Children’s Rights and Business Principles and other norms on human rights as international standards for human rights, and we will endeavor to respect human rights. We also observe domestic laws and regulations in the individual countries and regions in which we conduct business and we conduct ourselves to always respect cultures and customs to avoid being involved in any discrimination or violation of human rights.

Implementation of training and awareness-raising activities

To increase the effectiveness of the Policy in our business activities, we will ensure the Policy is widely known and that it becomes entrenched throughout the KADOKAWA Group, and will provide training to increase understanding of human rights.

Implementation of human rights due diligence

Under the structure for advancing respect for human rights stipulated in the Policy and in accordance with internationally recognized frameworks, including the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, we will identify and evaluate any adverse impact on human rights that may be associated with the KADOKAWA Group’s business activities. We will construct a mechanism for human rights due diligence that prevents or mitigates any adverse impact the KADOKAWA Group may have, performs follow-up investigations and discloses information to ensure human rights due diligence is implemented continuously.

Remedial measures and establishment of a contact point

To identify any adverse impact on human rights the KADOKAWA Group may have had or may have contributed to, we will construct a system that will include the establishment of a contact point, to appropriately implement remedial and corrective measures.

Dialogue and Consultation with Stakeholders

To advance initiatives related to human rights under the Policy, we will actively utilize the knowledge of outside experts in human rights and engage in dialogue and consultation with relevant stakeholders.

Governance

The Policy has been passed by resolution of the Members of the Board. We will appoint a Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) as the person in charge of initiatives for respecting human rights and a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) as the person in charge of implementing these initiatives. Through these efforts, we will advance initiatives for respecting human rights in accordance with the Policy.
